Mackesy Smye is Branch Sponsor for Downtown YMCA Spin-a-thon

Mackesy Smye was proud to be the Branch Sponsor for the Downtown YMCA Spin-a-thon on Saturday April 5, 2014.

This event was a 4 hour event held in the gymnasium of the downtown YMCA each hour was taught by a different spin instructor.

Our Administrator Clayton Straughan was the instructor for the final hour and is a regular instructor of Spin classes at the Y.

The Spin-a-thon was to raise funds to support the efforts of the Strong Kids program.

There were simultaneous spin-a-thons held at each of the areas YMCA branches.

The Strong Kids program provides financial assistance for downtown youth who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in the various programs offered by the Y.

These programs offer a chance for these young people to be exposed to more positive examples of “what to do” instead of the negative examples they might otherwise be exposed to that instead teach them “what not to do”.

Congratulations to the Downtown YMCA for putting on a very successful program.
